In the past year, Vajin Armstrong has blossomed into one of New Zealand’s top long distance runners, winning the prestigious Kepler Challenge in 2011 and the American River 50 mile race in 2012. During a visit to China in late 2004 and early 2005, Sri Chinmoy created many unique paintings using traditional Chinese inks, brushes and rice paper. Each of these paintings had a theme reflecting some noble aspiration of humanity – for example Patience, Dignity, Tolerance – that was then translated into Bengali, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish on the side of the painting. Sri Chinmoy and Mother Teresa shared a very deep and beautiful spiritual friendship, warmly encouraging each other in their respective endeavours and keeping each other in their prayers.
